Internet Fire by Alice Spicer
I believe we are living in a very unique time in the history of the Church. It is a time as historical as that of the New Testament age and of Martin Luther. In New Testament times the Greek language had become the international language over a vast geographical area surrounding the Mediterranean world. This made it possible for the Gospel to spread over land and sea to peoples of many cultures. In Luther’s time, it was the printing press. Through that new technology His passionate teachings were enabled to spread throughout all of Germany, effectively winning the hearts of the people. The rest is history. And today the internet has brought us a world of communication that fosters dialogue and interaction to a level never before seen or imagined. The average believer can now type a word in Google and instantly have a wealth of information to explore, and discussion groups and forums to engage in relative to any topic imaginable. We can no longer be censored by Church leaders, the powers that, up to now, have controlled what we could believe about God and philosophy. That power is waning. Now, more than ever, we are freed to seek the truth for ourselves before God. We can passively observe or actively participate in numerous discussions exploring all aspects of our faith and belief.
Please pray for the GOOD NEWS of God’s unfailing, unending love for all to spread across the internet and (thus the world) like a wild fire!
