Hell Movie Coming Soon

There’s a movie about Hell to be released in September 2012. It’s a movie that challenges especially Christians to re-examine their thoughts on hell in light of the controversy surrounding it. I believe Rob Bell’s “Love Wins” set the stage, but now the movie is about to begin…

Some have asked what the movie is really about. Is it for Hell, against it, or what? Who better to answer that than the writer / director Kevin Miller. See this next video:

I’ve enjoyed reading “Hope Beyond Hell” and other books that I have studied such as “Christ Triumphant”, by Thomas Allin (19th century Church of England minister and scholar), and other books of research that have revealed what the Literal Translation of the Bible and the primative, apostolic church believed for the first 5 centuries of church history (although some of the church fathers believed in keeping the final universal reconciliation in reserve for the “esoteric scholarly saints”, for fear that it might lead to more evil and crimes amoung the heathen–using a scripture, “don’t cast your pearls before swine”, as a reason). I first came to this truth in 1971, after finding and studying: “Young’s Literal translation of the Bible and “Young’s Analytical Concordance of the Bible”. I only hope that this movie (whatever it depicts Hell as) will not mislead people into thinking that there is no Hell at all–that Hell is only unconsciouness in the grave. The Bible does not teach this, neither did the primative, apostolic church; but that Hell is a real place to purge away sinfulness, evils and wickedness–not punish souls forever!

Ronald, I agree with you!! I do believe there is a hell, because some souls need more than just this life to come to the knowledge of God’s grace and forgiveness of sin. As John 3:16 states, we must accept him as savior and lord. I would rather enter in to his grace now than to havae to spend one second of eternity away from him.

Please shoot this movie in South Africa. The rand dollar exchange rate will make it much cheaper for you. I loved all the truth of the glorious gospel books. What the hell – Jackson Baer, spiritual terrorism, Boyd Purcell, mega grace revealed, Jath Van Der Westhuizen. We have plenty of accommodation for people, producers, directors etc, etc……we have a 1000 seated church and a staff of 100+. We have out reaches so the people we take care of would.all get involved 500 people- http://www.compass.org.za blessings and Father is going to make this a reality. I am so excited!!!

Debbie: I just optioned Frank Schaeffer’s new yet-to-be-published novel, part of which is set in South Africa. The book also picks up on themes similar to Hellbound? So perhaps we’ll shoot a “sequel” there after all!

Dear Kevin: I really appreciate what you are doing in “Hellbound, the Movie” by getting an expose of the historical biblical doctrine of Hell, and getting sort of a dialogue between Christians with different opinions. I suppose that you know from my blogs on your website (much like the one posted above on Gerry’s) that I am a firm believer in the ultimate reconciliation of all of God’s fallen creation–but not without God’s righteous judgements and remedial punishments. As I have related to Gerry before, it is hope beyond hell and the grave– not without a literal hell to purge away evils and wickedness. You seem to be an avid researcher of the Bible and church history regarding this and other Bible doctrines–so I suppose that you are aware that U/R was the prevailing belief among the early church for the first 5 centuries or so. How about a sequel movie regarding this ancient orthodoxy of U/R, and all the scholarly saints and martyrs who believed it and taught it? There are a number of good church history research books confirming this! (beware, though, of later Latin BibleTranslations that have rendered Biblical Greek words pertaining to age or ages unto everlasting and eternal!) Making a movie about this would bring a more positive look at God’s wonderful eternal love and righteous judgments instead of the E/T and limited atonement tradition–some using the dogma of “Reserve” as an excuse for hiding the truth–that came later with such theologians as Augustine, Aquinas, Calvin and others.)

I worry that such a movie will be fast paced, and may have the format of a number of CNN / MTV era documentaries with lots of fast snippets and soundbites and a non-linear format , where the issues and arguments are not carefully unpacked in a linear , meticulous, and nuanced way . Perhaps that pessimism is misplaced, and that it will include linear systematic debate ….but I worry given how fast paced and hypermedia driven so many documentaries I’ve seen in recent years …that they might not do the topic systematic justice , but instead, will resort to the fast and loose thinking outside the box sort of media presentation where the concepts involved are not explored in sequence .
