Another Hell Movie Coming!

“Hell and Mr. Fudge”

Friends,

Another movie is being released on the subject of Hell – “Hell and Mr. Fudge.” The doctrine or teaching that God torments His creation in eternal literal fire is being challenged in the Christian world like never before. If you believe in an all powerful all loving God then listen to what your heart is telling you! It could be the still small voice of the Holy Spirit confirming the truth. God would NEVER EVER torment His children in fire period, never mind “forever.” It has never even crossed His mind! Jer. 32:35

This new movie is based on the life of Edward Fudge, the author of “The Fire that Consumes.” This was one of the first books I read when I began studying the topic of Hell. Fudge was challenged to study this subject in depth and came to the conclusion that Hell was a judgment of God resulting in annihilation. My further research led me to a different conclusion – see “Hope Beyond Hell.” But I appreciate the contribution that Edward Fudge has provided in my quest for the truth. I think it is a great step in the right direction from the traditional view, but only a step – and not the destination. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie of this brother’s life.

Based on a True Story*:

“Edward Fudge, a young Bible-belt preacher, gets a surprise visit from an eccentric stranger who has a bizarre request. He wants Fudge to investigate Hell.

Son of a respected church leader known for his conservative religious views, Edward is confident that whatever the Bible really teaches is right. Trained in biblical languages and theology, he finds the proposal intriguing. He agrees to take it on, not knowing where it will lead. He dedicates a year of his life to a systematic study of Hell – and his life will never be the same again.

As Fudge immerses himself in research, other aspects of his life begin to crumble. Leaders of his own denomination attack him for suggesting that members of other churches can be saved.

His own congregation – people he loves and serves – fires him after he invites a black man to pray from the podium. The publishing company he has worked for since childhood terminates his employment because he refuses to recant his liberal positions.

He becomes so committed to his research that his relationship with his wife and children begins to suffer. And, most importantly, in the course of his investigation some of his core beliefs about God and judgment and eternity are shaken from their foundations. Ultimately, Fudge emerges as a defender of faith and Scripture, and a champion for God’s love.

Today Edward Fudge is a well-respected author, lecturer, and theologian. The book that resulted from his research, The Fire That Consumes, is a compelling study on the subject of Hell and eternal torment. It stands as a testimony to a man who had the courage to search for truth and to pay the price for what he found.”

Thank you for sharing that. We believe the truth will come out and it is our privilige to seek it out with the help of The Holy Spirit. There is nothing to fear, perfect love drives out fear and see it as an adventure well worthwhile taking, eventhough we will get much opposition, which will actually make us more determimed to go on and explore.
Thank you Jesus, for who you are!!!!!!!!!

The God Who IS Love could never be the same character that Evangelical Christianity portrays with its doctrines of no hope, no future and no life for billions of His creatures – most of whom never even heard the name of Jesus. There is simply too much Biblical proof for the eventual reconciliation of ALL through Jesus Christ to the Father. Humans who did what God is accused of doing would be utterly insane and cruel….and we dismiss it with “His ways are higher than our ways”. If Hell were everlasting torture, His ways would be infinitely LOWER than our ways, and He would not be a God worth having much less loving. Thankfully, 1 Cor. 15:28 states it clearly – someday, God will be ALL in all.

Dear fellow believers in the redemptive power of God’s loving-kindness, embodied in Psalms 117 and many other places, after watching this trailer I feel guilty that I haven’t spoken out enough. If you have spoken out, then you probably know what it is like to be ridiculed by fellow Christians for believing that all will be saved. After a while you get a little shy about sharing that God will save everyone. Now I find myself trying to remember the last time I shared the confidence I have that the God who created it all will not allow any to perish. I regret that I have been so easily shouted down.
May I tell you a quick story of what you may encounter when you tell others? A little while back our family of eight attended a Baptist church. It was a good church focusing on the truth of bible. I had learned to not share my belief in Reconciliation because it becomes a divisive topic and felt that I could (and should) focus on the areas that unite a body rather than divide. However, with some close friends, while being engaged in conversations on the bible, we shared our belief in a God who ultimately saves all (judgment? Yes! But judgment that is redemptive.) To keep it quick, one thing led to another and after a couple of meetings with the pastor (he agreed to read “Hope Beyond Hell” for our sessions) alas, we were asked to leave the church. This is a hard thing to do with so many kids and friends. But God was in it! We were able to share more openly than ever before. Before being kicked out, we were hesitant to share, afterwards there was nothing to lose! In the end, many more people heard the good news than if we had kept the status quo. But…, alas again, we have slipped into a protective mode of not sharing. That is until I watched this movie trailer and now my prayer is to be someone that will share my Hope Beyond Hell.
